Is Congressman Mark Pocan (D-WI02) a “moron” when it comes to Global Warming and Climate Change? When President Donald Trump posted on  Twitter a desire for more global warming due to the Polar Vortex hitting the Midwest, Pocan called the president, “a moron.”

“In the beautiful Midwest, windchill temperatures are reaching minus 60 degrees, the coldest ever recorded,” the president tweeted. “In coming days, expected to get even colder. People can’t last outside even for minutes. What the hell is going on with Global Waming? Please come back fast, we need you!”

Pocan apparently took the president seriously and responded. “Only a moron would not understand global warming causes huge temperature swings – including really cold temperatures. Only a moron…” Pocan posted on Twitter.

However, even most supporters of Climate Change theory will point out that a single weather event is not evidence for or against that the Earth is going through a period of Global Warming caused by human activity. And, as the Wisconsin State Journal reported on Tuesday about the atmospheric changes causing our current weather pattern, “Some scientists — but by no means most — see a connection between human-caused climate change and difference in atmospheric pressure that causes slower moving waves in the air.”

WISC-TV in Madison, reporting on Pocan’s response to Trump, even quoted a climate scientist contradicting the congressman’s Twitter post.  “Northern Illinois University climate scientist Victor Gensini said the cold snap is ‘simply an extreme weather event’ and doesn’t represent the global trend toward a warming Earth,” the television station reported.

However, WISC-TV failed to note the contradiction and failed to ask if the congressman is a moron, too.

Pocan’s defense of Climate Change theory comes the same week as Wisconsin is experiencing extreme cold causing government, school and business closings across the state, including the school district in Madison. The effect of the Polar Vortex plaguing the state has even caused Pocan’s fellow Democrat, Governor Tony Evers, to declare a state of emergency in Wisconsin due to the extreme cold.

Ironically, in the same week Wisconsin is in a state of emergency because of the cold and snow, Evers boasted on Facebook his support for policies to fight Global Warming and Climate Change in apocalyptic terms. “This is about supporting our fishing, tourism, and shipping industries — but it’s also about making sure our kids and grandkids have a world to grow up in,” Evers wrote. “Climate change is real. I’m proud to be one of the Great Lakes governors taking the lead in stopping it.”

NASA Scientists who support Climate Change theory, while predicting many environmental consequences from Global Warming, do not predict that the Earth is doomed, as Evers is warning.
