WMC Stands Behind Gov. Walker’s Small Business Agenda
MADISON – Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC) applauded Gov. Scott Walker on Tuesday as he announced his Small Business Agenda at the seventh annual Small Business Summit. The agenda outlined by Walker includes reducing business costs, preparing the workforce, removing barriers to work and attracting new talent to the state.
WMC – a combination of the state chamber of commerce and state manufacturers association – has nearly 4,000 members across Wisconsin, many of which are small employers that will benefit from Gov. Walker’s pro-growth policies.
Kurt R. Bauer, WMC president/CEO, released the following statement in response to Walker’s Small Business Agenda:
“Since coming into office in 2011, Gov. Walker has been a great friend to the business community, and his Small Business Agenda shows a continued dedication to growing Wisconsin’s economy. Each part of this agenda plays a key role in encouraging businesses to stay and expand in our state, but also ensures our employers have a talented workforce they can rely on.

“We commend Gov. Walker for being a vocal proponent of lower taxes, fewer burdensome regulations and more commonsense reforms that protect businesses against frivolous lawsuits. WMC and our members also thank the governor for taking steps to reduce the skills and enthusiasm gaps that currently exist.

“It is a well-known fact that our state’s employers need a prepared workforce that can fill the roles available now and in the future. While we can continue to train and retain workers currently living here, WMC strongly supports Gov. Walker’s plan to directly market to people outside the state. Wisconsin cannot continue to be the best kept secret in the Midwest. A paid advertising campaign in other states is a needed step to ensure our businesses can continue to compete both nationally and internationally.

“We look forward to partnering with Gov. Walker and legislators as we strive to make Wisconsin the best place in the nation to do business.”
