Governor Scott Walker released his Weekly Radio Address on Thursday titled “Made in America, Right Here in Wisconsin.”

Hi, Scott Walker here.

Foxconn, the world’s largest contract electronics manufacturer, is set to make a historic $10 billion investment in Wisconsin that will create 13,000 new family-supporting, good-paying jobs. This will truly be transformative for our state, our people, and our economy, and Wisconsin is ready.

On top of 13,000 manufacturing jobs, a study by a UW-Madison economist shows that Foxconn is expected to create tens of thousands of indirect and induced jobs, leading to a return of nearly four dollars for every one dollar of state investment.

With Foxconn’s state-of-the-art facility, the first of its kind in America, the most high-tech, cutting edge technology in the world will be proudly made in America, right here in the state of Wisconsin. The LCD panels manufactured at the facility will go on to be used in self-driving cars, aircraft systems, advanced healthcare machinery, and other hallmarks of our modern economy.

And that’s not even getting to the ripple effect Foxconn will have throughout the rest of our state! Their investment, as well as the investment of companies like Haribo and Millipore Sigma, encourage other companies to invest and expand in Wisconsin too, and that draws more skilled workers from out of state to live and work in our state.

We’re confident the return on our Foxconn investment will deliver a significant positive impact on Wisconsin families for generations to come.

Indeed, we are working and winning for everyone in Wisconsin.
