In an email to his constituents on Thursday, Rep. Joe Sanfelippo (R-New Berlin) broke the bad news: the new Blue Books are ready.
“The 2019-2020 Wisconsin Blue Books have now arrived!” Sanfelippo wrote. “First published in 1853 as a manual for legislators, the Blue Book has evolved into a useful tool for the state’s residents, as well as a historical record of Wisconsin state government. The Blue Book’s mission is to furnish the Legislature and the public with information on state officers and governmental organization, along with statistical information and articles of general interest.”
Constituents can get their own copy, free of charge, from their representatives in the Assembly or the Senate. However, in the age of the internet, not enough get taken and legislative staff are often stuck trying to pass them off to any unfortunates that visit the offices in the Capitol.
So we’re wondering if any state legislators might try to slip one into a Trick or Treat bag this Halloween. “Hey kid, it’s educational, and you’ll love the pictures.” If so, we want to know the malefactor so they can be sufficiently chastised on social media.
Beware. Your child’s treat bag might be a little heavier this year, and it won’t be because your neighbors handed out coins instead of candy. If you live in the neighborhood of a legislator, there might just be something big, blue and scary in the bag.
