Tired of the same-old same-old emails in your inbox that are selling one political party and everything is seen through that lens? “Taylor Swift is touring North America. How will that help Donald Trump?”
Or worse, do you find yourself reading things that you know just aren’t true but somebody is repeating what somebody else said because “you gotta support the team?”
I know the feeling.
For ten years I wrote a weekly column for the Waukesha Freeman that was willing to question all sides in the pursuit of the truth. I was also a writer for the conservative MacIver Institute, columns that were known for digging into the substance of issues without worrying about the politics. Afterwards, I was an education reporter for Watchdog.org (now the Center Square). I thought I understood the conservative movement and then the 2020 presidential election turned our political world upside down.
Following the aftermath of January 6, 2021, I found myself asking what I was doing as a writer. I was the owner and editor of a clearly partisan but successful website, RightWisconsin. Because of its independence, the website was respected even by people who clearly disagreed with its political direction.
But it was time to do something more. My readers deserve the truth and I deserve better than being a cog in “Republican media inc.” I also want to write about more: more culture, more travel, more about food, family, faith, and life.
So a new concept was born, free of ideological blinders and the need to support a political party. My life is a Life, Under Construction, and I hope you join me every Monday and Thursday (including holidays) as we explore our world.
I’ve made the subscription price reasonable: just $6 per month or $60 per year. For that you get my email twice-weekly, every Monday and Thursday, as well as any special emails I’ll send out during this important election year.
We’re now entering the crazy times of the 2024 election cycle, including the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. Let me help you make sense of all of the insanity, while still finding something different to say than the usual talking heads with a political agenda.
But we won’t just focus on politics. This is a journey through life for all of us, not just a journey to some political end. There is more out there. Let’s find it together.
