A national watchdog group, the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT), has filed an complaint with the House Ethics Committee against Randy Bryce, a Democratic candidate in Wisconsin’s first congressional district. As RightWisconsin reported last week, Bryce failed to turn in his financial disclosure statement to the Federal Election Commission on time.
“We write today about Congressional candidate Randy Bryce’s failure to timely file a Financial Disclosure Statement and to request the Committee on Ethics take appropriate action, including imposing a fine against Bryce,” the complaint said.
Once a candidate has raised $5000 for their congressional campaign, they are required to file the PFD within 30 days or request an extension. The Washington Free Beacon notes that Bryce declared his candidacy on June 19, so he would have had to file his financial disclosure by July 20.
However, Bryce did not file with the FEC until October 24, after RightWisconsin reached out unsuccessfully for a comment from his campaign.
Bryce is running against Cathy Myers in the Democratic Primary. Myers recently accused Bryce of misogyny and sexism after a Twitter post by Bryce attacking Ivanka Trump.
The winner will face House Speaker Paul Ryan in the 2018 election.
