AFP-Wisconsin Backs Homeowners Bill of Rights

JUL 20, 2017 BY AFP

MADISON, WI – Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin today announced its support for the Homeowner’s Bill of Rights, sweeping legislation to combat the U.S. Supreme Court’s controversial decision in Murr v. Wisconsin. This case changed long-standing property rights law to make it more difficult for homeowners  to buy, sell, and develop their real estate.

“Wisconsin is once again leading the way as a model for the nation in protecting the property rights of its citizens,” said AFP-WI State Director Eric Bott, “Unfortunately, state and federal courts have bungled this issue in recent years and it falls to our state legislators to fix this mess to safeguard the property rights of Wisconsinites. This bill will stop heavy-handed government bureaucrats from arbitrarily denying homeowners essential permits and blocking them from developing their own property as they see fit.  AFP-Wisconsin is proud to support the Homeowner’s Bill of Rights unveiled today and commends Senator Tom Tiffany and Representative Adam Jarchow for their leadership in authoring these important reforms.”
