WMC CEO: Foxconn is Validation of Pro-Growth Reforms
Recruiting workers needs to be high priority
MADISON – Kurt R. Bauer, president/CEO of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce – Wisconsin’s Chamber of Commerce — issued the following statement on news that Foxconn intends to build a manufacturing facility in Wisconsin.

“Foxconn’s decision to build its multi-billion dollar, state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing facility in Wisconsin is a validation of the policy agenda WMC has been pursuing for decades. Governor Walker and pro-business lawmakers deserve high praise for their unflinching commitment to enacting reforms that have made our state globally competitive.

“The transformative tax, regulatory and litigation reforms enacted over the past six years, like Act 10, the Manufacturers and Agricultural Production Tax Credit (MAC) and Right to Work, have fundamentally changed how the world views Wisconsin. Foxconn proves Wisconsin can play and win in the big leagues.

“Recruiting workers is an enormous challenge for the state’s economy. The Foxconn announcement will add to that challenge. Drawing people to Wisconsin from other states and abroad is now even more important and will require a comprehensive, collaborative effort by both the public and private sectors to be successful.”

“Attracting workers to Wisconsin shouldn’t be a hard sell. We have numerous career choices, high quality of life, low cost of living, great communities, world-class schools and diverse recreational activities to fit every taste. Today’s announcement is an opportunity to show the world what a great place Wisconsin is to come to work and raise a family. We must now focus on telling this story to attract talent.

“I have said repeatedly that Wisconsin is the best kept secret in the Midwest. Today, the secret is out.

WMC looks forward to learning more details in coming weeks. But in the meantime, WMC welcomes Foxconn to Wisconsin!”
