Wisconsin Right to Life PAC announced their endorsements in the special elections in the 10th senate district and the 58th Assembly District.
A vacancy of occurred in the 10th state senate district when state Sen. Sheila Harsdorf (R-River Falls) was appointed Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection Secretary by Governor Scott Walker. The special election is January 16 with a primary on December 19.
There are two Republican candidates on the ballot, both members of the state Assembly: Rep. Shannon Zimmerman (R-River Falls) and Rep. Adam Jarchow (R-Balsam Lake). Both were endorsed by Wisconsin Right to Life PAC.
There are three Democratic candidates running: Patty Schachtner (D-Somerset), John Rocco Calabrese (D-Glenwood City), and Reuben Helge Herfindahl (D-River Falls). One Libertarian is also on the ballot, Brian J. Corriea (L-Wilson). None of them were endorsed by Wisconsin Right to Life.
A special election for State Assembly District 58 became necessary with the passing of state Rep. Bob Gannon (R-West Bend). The election will also be held January 16 with a primary election on December 19.
There are four Republican candidates in this very conservative district: Gannon staff member Tiffany Koehler of Slinger, Spencer Zimmerman (a frequent, unserious candidate) of Janesville, Washington County Board Chairman Rick Gundrum of Slinger, and local businessman Steve Stanek of West Bend. Of the four Republicans, only Koehler and Gundrum received the endorsement of Wisconsin Right to Life.
