State Sen. Leah Vukmir (R-Brookfield) completed a tour of the state Republican Party field offices on Saturday with a visit to the field office in her home county of Waukesha. Vukmir spoke to over forty people thanking supporters and promising them victory over Democratic Sen. Tammy Baldwin in November.
“I am proud to stand with you as we take this next step as we make Wisconsin completely red,” Vukmir said. “Tammy Baldwin has to go!”
Vukmir’s tour of the GOP offices followed her receiving the party’s endorsement at the GOP state convention on May 12 with over 72 percent of the vote of the delegates. Vukmir still has to win the Republican Primary on August 14 to secure her party’s nomination. She faces Delafield business consultant Kevin Nicholson who is well-funded and supported by some national conservative leaders.
Vukmir said the reason she has been campaigning in all 72 counties and has put 63.000 miles on her vehicle because Baldwin does not represent Wisconsin.
“She does not represent our Wisconsin values. She doesn’t represent our American values. She has let our veterans down,” Vukmir said. “She has let our state down. She has let the unborn down, and we are going to hold her accountable every single step of the way.”
Before she spoke, state Republican Party Chairman Brad Courtney introduced Vukmir to the crowd of GOP activists. “The Republican Party of Wisconsin is proud to stand with state Senator Leah Vukmir as our party nominee,” Courtney said.
“The thing is that I’m most proud about Leah is that we’re going to have a candidate that will be a stark, clear contrast to the liberal Tammy Baldwin,” Courtney said. “Leah is a fighter for the taxpayer, always a fighter for the unborn, wants to keep Wisconsin a right-to-work state and again, I could just go on and on.”
