State Rep. Jesse Kremer (R-Kewaskum) announced Tuesday he is not running for re-election in November.
“The difference between a politician and a statesman is that a politician thinks about the next election while the statesman thinks about the next generation,” Kremer said in a press release. “I, for one, have strived to fall into the latter, a statesman, rather than the former, a politician.”
Kremer says he is returning to the private sector to pursue a career as a pilot.
Among the issues pursued by Kremer, he fought for free speech on UW-System campuses and also for doing what the state could to change EPA policy towards air quality monitoring in the Sheboygan area.
Kremer represents the 59th Assembly District which includes Southern Calumet, Western Sheboygan, Northern Washington and Eastern Fond du Lac Counties. Kremer ran unopposed in the last election. President Donald Trump won the district with 69.7 percent of the vote in 2016. Governor Scott Walker won the district with 74.,7 percent of the vote.
