Madison, WI – Today, the Wisconsin Alliance for Reform will launch digital billboards in Milwaukee, Green Bay and La Crosse highlighting Senator Tammy Baldwin’s failure to deliver on her promise to bring affordable healthcare to Wisconsin families.

“The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance projected that 37,160 Wisconsinites would lose their coverage in 2017 because providers were leaving the marketplace. To make matters worse, premiums rose by nearly 30% in some areas of Wisconsin and by an average of over 15%. 2018 premium hikes could go as high as 43% here,” said Luke Fuller, Executive Director of Wisconsin Alliance for Reform.

Last week Molina Healthcare Inc., announced that it will no longer sell health plans in Wisconsin on the federal exchange. Molina’s exit from the Wisconsin exchanges follows the previous departures of Anthem, Humana and UnitedHealthcare.

Without Anthem or Molina, the people of Brown, Door, Florence, Kewaunee, Oconto, Sheboygan, and Waupaca counties will likely be left with only one provider available to them through the federally facilitated marketplace.

For Menominee, Wisconsin’s poorest county, Molina was the only healthcare provider available on the exchange.

“In what appears to fit a pattern of ignoring reality or pleas for help, Tammy Baldwin offered virtually no response to Molina’s announced departure from the Wisconsin marketplace other than a vague pledge to “work across party lines,” just weeks after voting against allowing debate to move forward on alternatives to Obamacare,” Fuller added.

Wisconsin Alliance Reform is urging people to contact Senator Tammy Baldwin and ask her to deliver affordable healthcare for Wisconsin.
