Former President Donald Trump’s campaign in Wisconsin may have gotten a boost from the violence in Kenosha last summer. An analysis by The Economist found that Trump’s vote totals in the Kenosha area were higher than what could normally be expected.
The magazine, building on the work of blogger Jesse Richardson, did an analysis by precinct of Wisconsin’s expected voter outcomes and found, within a 30-mile radius of Kenosha, President Joe Biden’s campaign “lagged” their model’s estimated vote total.
“Near its centre, he fell short by 2.4 percentage points,” the magazine reported. “Among Wisconsin’s 50 most populous counties, Mr Biden’s biggest deficit relative to predicted votes was in Kenosha County.”
