Governor Scott Walker has ordered the flags to half staff on October 15 to honor state Rep. Bob Gannon, R-Brookfield, who passed away on October 3rd. Walker also ordered the flags lowered for former Congressman Jerry Kleczka, D-Milwaukee, on October 14.

Here is the text of the order for Gannon:

Relating to an Order for the Flag of the United States and the Flag of the State of Wisconsin to be Flown at Half-Staff as a Mark of Respect for Representative Robert “Bob” Gannon

WHEREAS, on October 3, 2017, Representative Bob Gannon passed away at the age of 58; and

WHEREAS, Representative Bob Gannon served in the Wisconsin State Assembly since 2015, representing the people of the 58th Assembly District; and

WHEREAS, prior to his service in the Wisconsin State Assembly, Representative Bob Gannon was Managing Partner of Richards Insurance of West Bend and owner of the Americlnn Hotel in West Bend; and

WHEREAS, Representative Bob Gannon was also very active in his community; he transformed the lives of homeless families by serving as President of the Family Promise Organization, he served as Vice President of the West Bend Economic Development Corporation, as Treasurer, President Elect, and President of the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the West Bend Sunrise Rotary, West Bend Jaycees, and West Bend Youth Hockey Association; and

WHEREAS, Representative Bob Gannon was a dedicated public servant, and the people of Wisconsin mourn his passing; and

WHEREAS, a memorial service will be held for Representative Bob Gannon on Sunday, October 15, 2017;

NOW THEREFORE, I, SCOTT WALKER, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of this State, do hereby order that the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Wisconsin shall be flown at half-staff at all buildings, grounds, and military installations of the State of Wisconsin, beginning at sunrise on October 15, 2017, and ending at sunset on that date.

WHEREAS, on October 8, 2017, Representative Gerald Daniel “Jerry” Kleczka passed away at the age of 73; and

WHEREAS, Representative Jerry Kleczka served in the United States House of Representatives from 1984 to 2005, representing the people of Wisconsin’s 4th Congressional District; and

WHEREAS, as a member of the House of Representatives, Representative Jerry Kleczka served on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Committee on the Budget; and

WHEREAS, before his election to the United States House of Representatives in 1984, Representative Jerry Kleczka served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 1969 to 1974 and also in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1975 to 1984;

WHEREAS, Representative Jerry Kleczka was a dedicated public servant, and the people of Wisconsin mourn his passing; and

WHEREAS, a memorial service will be held for Representative Jerry Kleczka on Saturday, October 14, 2017;

NOW THEREFORE, I, SCOTT WALKER, Governor of the State of Wisconsin, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of this State, do hereby order that the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Wisconsin shall be flown at half staff at all buildings, grounds, and military installations of the State of Wisconsin, beginning at sunrise on Saturday, October 14, 2017, and ending at sunset on that date.
