Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh. The Associated Press is reporting that business consultant Kevin Nicholson, a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, had a Democrat as a client.

Republican Senate candidate Kevin Nicholson’s consulting clients includes companies owned, or invested in, by Pritzker Group, a financial firm started by J.B. Pritzker, a Democratic mega-donor and candidate for governor in Illinois.

Nicholson reported last month that he had been paid at least $15,000 from Pritzker-related companies over the past two years.

As Dr. Peter Venkman said, “Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!”

Nicholson is, of course, a former president of the College Democrats of America and so this is somehow relevant. Somehow. I’m sure my attorney (a big-time Democrat), the people who bought Girl Scout cookies from my daughter (some of them are Democrats) and even my in-laws (all Democrats) will really care that Nicholson once had a Democrat as a client.

I’m sure Nicholson thought to himself that he’s going to change all of his beliefs back to those of the Democratic Party because one of his clients happens to be a Democratic candidate for governor of Illinois. Or maybe Pritzker is a secret Republican who is going to save Illinois by enacting Walker-like reforms there, and that’s the real reason he did business with Nicholson.

In all seriousness, does this matter? Not unless the Associated Press can show some sort of corrupt deal-making between Pritzker and Nicholson (always a question with Illinois politicians). Otherwise, how does this affect the race or any policy position Nicholson might have? This really is a non-issue.

Next, the media will be checking into the voting record of Nicholson’s mother. Oh, too late.
