At the Wisconsin State Fair’s exposition hall, you can buy everything from miracle mops to hot tubs. Thanks to the Milwaukee County Democratic Party, you can also buy a “pussy hat” for $15.00.

At the Democratic Party of Milwaukee County’s booth at the State Fair, “pussy hats” were on sale for $15.

Ironically, the hats were next to the “Democrats for Decency” t-shirts where they were easily viewable by children walking past.

“Pussy hats,” or “pussyhats,” first made their appearance at the Women’s March to protest President Donald Trump. The pink knitted hats were in response to a recording of a private conversation in 2015  in which Trump said that women would allow him to “grab them by the pussy.” Since then they have become a popular symbolic gesture at leftwing events.

Attempts to get comment from the Democratic Party of Wisconsin and the Milwaukee County Democratic Party on the appropriateness of displaying these where they can be seen by children were unsuccessful.

In 2015, the Wisconsin State Fair banned the sale of merchandise with the Confederate Battle Flag, or related imagery, due to the flag’s offensiveness to African Americans. An attempt to reach Kristin Chuckel, the spokesman for the Wisconsin State Fair, to comment on the Democrats’ display and whether it also violates the fair’s standard of decency was unsuccessful.
