College Republicans team up with College Democrats for 9/11 Memorial
MADISON, Wis. – The College Republicans of UW-Madison planted American flags on Bascom Hill today, to honor the thousands of Americans who died from the 9/11 terror attacks.
College Republicans teamed up with the College Democrats of UW-Madison and VETS (Veterans, Educators and Traditional Students) to create the 9/11 memorial. In addition to the flag display on Bascom Hill, members of VETS read off the names of the victims who lost their lives.
For years these student organizations have partnered in an effort to set aside political differences and work together to remember the victims of 9/11.
“In a time where we’ve seen so much division in our country, it’s amazing to see us all come together, not as Democrats or Republicans, but as people, as Americans,” said Emelia Rohl, Communications Director of the College Republicans of UW-Madison. “This has been our tradition for years, and it’s so important that we remember not only the victims of 9/11, but also our country’s resilience in the face of tragedy.”
