Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic candidate for president Hillary Clinton is coming to Milwaukee on November 9, one year and a day after losing the election to President Donald Trump.
Clinton’s failure to visit Wisconsin is often cited as one reason she lost our state’s electoral votes, and the election, last November. Now she’s visiting the state she snubbed in 2016.
Of course, Clinton’s book tour will not be like most authors who carry a stack of books from bookstore to bookstore signing autographs and speaking about writing the book. Clinton’s tour takes her to theaters where tickets can cost from $55 for a seat in Washington D.C. at the show to $3,000 for a “VIP Platinum ticket” which includes a visit backstage.
In Milwaukee, Clinton will be appearing at the Riverside Theater. Tickets will go on sale on September 6 to those that pre-register for the sale.
The book is called “What Happened.” Presumably she’ll explain how her Wisconsin travel agent was kidnapped by the Russians.
Or, as The Los Angeles Times reports:
Publisher Simon & Schuster told the Associated Press in July that Clinton’s book will be a personal memoir of her campaign as well as a “cautionary tale” about Russian interference in the election. The book’s publication date is Sept. 12.
“In the past, for reasons I try to explain, I’ve often felt I had to be careful in public, like I was up on a wire without a net,” Clinton writes in the introduction, according to Simon & Schuster. “Now I’m letting my guard down.”
So Clinton is going to open up and be honest with the audience. That would be a first, but not the first time her fans have been promised that. But, as Clinton herself has said, at this point what difference would it make?
