Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin (D) received bad news last week when her net approval rating placed her in the bottom ten of U.S. Senators, according to Morning Consult last week.
“Sens. Tammy Baldwin of Wisconsin and Claire McCaskill of Missouri, who are both seeking re-election, remain the least popular Democrats in states carried by Trump, with voters split down the middle over their job performance,” according to Morning Consult.
McCaskill is frequently listed as the number one target for Republicans heading into the 2018 election cycle.
Baldwin’s approval rating is at 40 percent and her disapproval is at 40 percent, according to the Morning Consult poll, so her net approval rating is zero. Her net approval rating saw a 6 percent drop since the last poll, dropping her to ninth worst of all U.S. Senators. There is a one percent margin of error.
However, putting Baldwin’s net approval rating in perspective, Senator Ron Johnson’s net approval rating is at minus one percent with 39 percent approval and 40 percent disapproval. Governor Scott Walker’s net approval is minus 7.
The U.S. Senate race in Wisconsin has attracted national attention because of the amount of money Republicans have already spent in the race to defeat Baldwin. There are currently two candidates attempting to get the Republican nomination, state Sen. Leah Vukmir (R-Brookfield) and Kevin Nicholson of Delafield. A third Republican, Eric Hovde, is also considering a run in 2018.
